The "COMMERCIAL" evolution of NPR and PBS: do you find this deplorable as I do?

I agree, origly the US government provided major funding through the National Endounment for the Arts (NEA), with just minor fund drives needed. Now, it seems that whenever I tune in, they are on an extended begging campaign. The return of government funding is a good idea; or, at least, contributors should have access to beg-free programming. The taxpayer cost would be minimal, and the benefits large.
