Could someone please correct this text in English?

Since I was a student at the Lyceum, I have always been attracted by the processes of cooperation between the European countries: that's why I have always considered myself not only as an Italian citizen, but also as a European citizen; and when I say 'Europe' I don't refer to the economic (NOT economical) union (which is important, nevertheless), but to the spiritual community based on common values, such as the respect for, and protection of, Human Rights. One of the arguments (no need to use 'first') against Europe , which unfortunately is quite widespread (not 'spread') throughout the people in my country (no capital letter needed) is its alleged 'farness' from everyday (no 's' and no apostrophe) life. I don't think so, and this experience could give me the possibility of (not 'to') discovering a world of institutions and rules that now I only know from (not 'for') what I studied in my books; I'd like to see how they work, and be part of that, even if for only (not 'just') three months.
